How to Integrate Your Offshore and Onshore Teams

Probably the most crucial part of onshore, offshore collaboration is all about combining your contractor with your onshore team. Failure to connect the two teams effectively will result in a failed outsourcing endeavor. 

To ensure efficient and productive integration of both teams, follow these three critical steps. 

1. Have a training plan in place

Ascertain that you have a training schedule in place from the start detailing precisely how your offshore team members will be prepared to perform the duties associated with their position.  

This will create a strong first impression of onshore, offshore collaboration that demonstrates its dedication and organization and sets the stage for the role’s expectations. 

Some of the things your training plan may include: 

  • The training subjects
  • The date and time of the training session 
  • A connection or summary of the appropriate training materials (if relevant).

2. Put key results areas in place (KRAs) 

KRAs are the quantitative or subjective outcomes of each role’s roles and responsibilities described in the job description. By introducing KRAs, you can ensure that everyone knows what is required of them and that you can track success and provide input if appropriate. 

To decide the KRAs for each member of your offshore team, analyze their roles and duties and then measure the projected productivity for a given time that showcases the best onshore, offshore collaboration. 

3. Bring your offshore team into your office with technology 

Using the two groups, you can make it easier for the listeners to communicate and familiarize themselves. When the two teams meet unsupervised, they are likely to drift apart – this is completely unacceptable during the onshore and offshore software development. 

Have a giant LED TV linked to a voice or video conferencing system (or whatever platform you prefer). Any time you need to hold a team meeting, the link is live. Make it as simple as if everybody were at the office as a part of an onshore-offshore collaboration with better visual communication.

Additionally, if your offshore staff members are expected to make a phone call to clients, suppliers, and prospects, they can do so via your domestic phone system. 

4. The importance of culture 

Also, doing this has a necessary consequence. Once you have your organization’s culture in place in your offshore team, start injecting it in. Many businesses miss this phase, leading to bad onshore and offshore teams’ experiences, and this is where it gets critical to the companies to better the onshore-offshore collaboration. 

Offshoring has become incredibly effective, so you need to get up to speed with it and use it frequently. Link an offshore office to a huge LED TV to your intranet using Skype or Zoom (or another video conferencing tool of your choice). 

It encourages one team to address problems while ensuring that contact is always maintained between the two places. If you are not ready for this move, ensure that all personnel onshore have the internet video conferencing tool (Skype or Zoom) and allow them the opportunity to respond quickly to instant messages.
